Nina Nisenholtz
- Founder and Chair
At
age 38, Nina Nisenholtz was diagnosed with breast cancer after
receiving a routine mammogram. The mammogram definitely
saved my life, she explains. If not for the mammogram,
my cancer may not have been detected until it was too late.
Now cancer-free, she is on a mission to ensure that other
women are able to receive the same life-saving procedure.
At the 9th Annual
Westside Challenge to Beat Breast Cancer on October 21, 2006, tennis enthusiasts will once again join Nina on
the courts of the UCLA/Los Angeles Tennis Center, play 50
games in a round-robin format, and bid on silent auction items
donated from various companies including The Franklin Mint,
Crowne Plaza Hotel, MGM Studios, and Alaska Airlines. I
want other women to understand that breast cancer can and
will be beaten through education and preventive measures,
she explains. Presently, one in nine women will be diagnosed
with the diseasethis tournament is our way of coming
together to provide women with the capability for early detection
and a cure.
More than $100,000
will be raised this year, and all proceeds from the Westside
Challenge benefit the low-cost mammography screening and educational
programs at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center. During the past
few years, the Center has provided these services to hundreds
of women in the communityand for many women, like Nina,
this simple diagnostic test can be lifesaving.
Nina recently founded
N2N Entertainment, Inc., a talent representation company based in Santa Monica. Formerly, Nina served as a
talent agent at William Morris Talent and Literary Agency.
